The Reverend George Anderson was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. The son of Bernie and the late Howard E. Anderson, Jr. grandson of the late Wilhermina Anderson and the late Rev. Howard E. Anderson, Sr., brother of Sharon L. Anderson and the late Rev. Howard E. Anderson, III.

 

 

Rev. Anderson attended the public schools of Wilmington, DE. As well as being an honor roll student from elementary through high school, he received varisty letters in cross-country, track & field and basketball. At the same time, he was very active in his church, Ezion Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, participating in the Junior Usher Board, the Youth Choir as well as the Youth Council.

 

 

After graduating from Wilmington High School, Rev. Anderson attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He graduated "Cum Laude" with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. After graduation, he matriculated to Drew University, earning a Master a Divinity Degree. While working vigorously from 1979 thru 1987, Rev. Anderson had the opportunity of being employed with General Motors for four consecutive summers, Barry Temporary Agency and Marine Midland Bank. His last year's in corporate America were spent with First USA Bank.

 

 

Rev. George Anderson was ordained a Deacon in 1985 and an Elder in 1992 in the Pennisula-Delaware Conferecne. He served five years as Assistant Pastor of Elkton-Providence Charge from January 1983 to March 1988. Upon leaving Elkton-Providence Charge, be began a new leadership as Pastor with Still Pond-Coleman Charge in Worton, Maryland in March 1988. He served as pastor until June of 1996. Rev. Anderson continued his leadership principles and became the Pastor of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church in Wilmington, DE from June of 1996 until October 1999. Currently, Rev. Anderson is the pastor of St. Luke Community Christian Church in Chester, Pennsylvania.

 

 

Pastor Anderson believes the ministry of St. Luke C.C. Church is to build up those who have committed their lives to Jesus Christ and help them move toward spiritual maturity. Believing with that mission, Rev. Anderson says, "When we lose sight of the ministry of Jesus Christ, we become an organization of spiritual dwarfs. We have loved people and lost them; we have baptized them, confirmed them & dropped them; We have not moved them to spiritual maturity and if we fail in that, we are not a church."
